NEW RIDER COURSE
WHAT TO EXPECT
When you take a New Rider Course, Skilled or 3-Wheel at Four Rivers Riding Academy you’ll:
Learn to ride on a genuine Harley-Davidson® motorcycle. (Unless you signed up for skilled or the 3-Wheel, you must bring your bike.)
Get in-class and on-range instruction from Motorcycle Safety Foundation® (MSF) and H-D® Certified Coaches.
Learn to safely accelerate, shift, brake, and turn, along with maneuvers like controlling skids and surmounting obstacles.
Earn an MSF Basic Rider Course Completion Card, which may (varies by state, IL DOES NOT TAKE KENTUCKY'S CARDS) exempt you from the riding portion of your license exam and score you a discount on motorcycle insurance. You should have at least a car permit but do not have to have a motorcycle permit to take the Riding Academy Class. YOU DO HAVE TO HAVE A MOTORCYCLE PERMIT BEFORE YOU GET YOUR MOTORCYCLE LICENSE. You do have to wait 30 days after you get your motorcycle permit to get your full endorsement. The skills waiver certificate is good for 1 year after the class for the purpose of getting your motorcycle endorsement.
Be at least 16 years old, and if under 18, hold a learner's license for one year with no traffic convictions.

*Students are required to take the MSF online eCOURSE. The eCOURSE is a series of videos and graphics that help riders understand the principles of motorcycling. Directions along with the link for the eCOURSE is emailed to students 10 days prior to their course date. The eCOURSE MUST BE COMPLETED BEFORE the first day of class. Please print and bring in a copy of the completion certificate when you arrive.
